First timer and I have to say the Beast rocks. I base my shoe purchases on feel rather than price but this time around the Beast really feels good and I got a discount on the price tag which is always a plus. Not as heavy as I thought and supports my orthotics very nicely. No rolling off to the sides and my feet are on top of my orthos as they are suppose to be which makes the run more balanced. Love the dark blue color I got. The best part about brooks is the right out of the box usage. Can't beat that.

I am a short fairly active woman with wide flat feet. These shoes are good for flat feet and my orthotics fit inside them pretty good. Because my feet are apparently an odd width, the girls version (Ariel) isn't wide enough in the heel, and the men's version (Beast) is wide enough in the heel, but not quite in the forefoot. I probably need between a regular and wide width for men's. I settled for the regular and loosened the laces, and that has been working pretty well. (Better than any other shoe I have tried in men's or women's). Because the shoe is so heavy, I sometimes back-lace the shoe to keep my feet from sliding all around. I only wish they offered this shoe in an ALL BLACK COLOR since I wear these shoes to work everyday due to my foot problems. I have the black and silver shoe and the shiny silver is just as unsightly as the typical big white or blue athletic shoes that people wear with their business suits when they are daily walking commuters like myself!! I walk 20-60 minutes almost everyday. PLEASE MAKE AN ALL BLACK SHOE!!!

Am senior citizen, for whom walking and elliptic machine workouts are the fitness routines. My feet have tried every brand known to man - and they vote unanimously for Brooks - especially The Beast (an apt name if there ever was one). Fit, stability, and cushioning are perfect for me - BUT - you have to let your feet decide what's best for you. So try a bunch of makes and models. Give Brooks' Beast a few rotations around the block. You might be pleasantly surprised!
