This shoe is meant for someone that need massive amounts of arch support and tips the scale at 350lbsI didn't realize it until I went to a real running store that these shoes destroyed my knees. I knew they were messed up but didn't realize it was my shoes causing me pain that I know how to go to physical therapy for. I started to notice that after taking them off and walking around barefoot I'd walk on the outside of my feet. I never did this before! If you don't need a ridiculous amount of arch support they will cause your feet to roll out and put tons of undue stress on you knees.

I've been using Beasts for 15 years. I am a very heavy, pronating, flat footed runner/walker. I was having severe joint/knee pain before I started using the Beast, but haven't had trouble with it since. Some complain about the shoe's weight, but for me its not a problem. I'm looking for a shoe that lets me exercise without pain, not competition footwear. The Beast fits the bill.

Toastmatt from Dayton, OH

I've owned 6 or 7 pairs of the Beast shoes. This shoe lasts longer than all other shoes I've worn. I can run for 400 or more miles in this shoe before it begins to break down. I'm doing around 25 miles/week. I've had knee issues with other shoes, but, since I started using the Beast, no issues. I'll keep using it until it changes fundamentally. I like the durability and consistency of the product.

I have now bought and returned 3 pairs of 2011 beast. The 2011 model has quality issues as far as the sole is concerned. After just 2 uses the sole seems to peel off near the toes. Completely unacceptable for any sports shoe. While the sole is cheap the shoe is very comfortable. I have owned 3 previous year models of Brooks and this is the first time this is happening. Please get your quality control on this sole issue. Till then I am stuck with super gluing the sole on the 2011 shoe as my ankle and knees do not do well with any other shoe.
